3/5/2010 - Trails are starting to get bare spots. Expecting 1/2" of rain on Sat which will basically close the trails for the season. We will turn our focus to removing signs and bridges so we do not interfere with farming operations. Been a great year. Hopefully next year will be the same.
3/1/2010 - All trails are in good to great shape for today. There is a great base on most of the trails. Temps this week are expected to be in mid to high 30s. This will start to create bare spots on many of the trails. Will update at the end of the week on how the trails are holding up. Things will be starting to wind down so ride while you still can.
2/19/2010 - All trails are groomed. Ready for riding this weekend. Be aware of the opening by the T-intersection between Rowley & Quasqueton that goes to the river trail. It is marked but be cautious. Stay on trails and DO NOT ride in open fields. It has been a great season and we want to keep it that way.
2/12/2010 - All trails have been groomed and are ready for riding this weekend. The Oelwein and Masonville trails should be done today. Be careful when going under Hwy 20 on the Brandon trail due to snow accumalations in tunnel. Also, be aware of the I-380 underpass, use caution entering and exiting. Ride save and stay on marked trails only.
2-5-2010 - Trail from Brandon-Jesup-Littleton is groomed. Independence and Winthrop area should be all groomed this weekend. Trails are in good condition. Some bare spots and more around towns. Be careful on underpasses on Hwy. 20 and I-380. The entire trail system should be completely groomed by the end of weekend.
2-2-2010 - I have not been on the trails recently so my report is just what I can see from the roads. We recieved about 2" of new snow last night which will help the trails. The groomer has not been out since the rain so the old snow is hard and icy. There are thin spots which this new snow will help out a little. Hopefully we can get the groomer out on the trails again and see if we can't extend the riding a little longer.
1-22-2010 - Most trails have been groomed ahead of the up coming rain event. Hopefully we do not get as much rain as we did in Dec. If we do get the rain, use extreme caution once you can get back out on the trails. As flooding may move some of the bridges and undermine some of the ditches. As of today, trails are in fair shape with the previous reported bare spots now bigger. All in all, would rate the trails as 70% fair.
1-16-2010 - The trails are rated about 80% fair. With the rest being thin to bare. The bare spots are not large areas. The trails are getting a little rough with the traffic and soft snow. As soon as temperature firm up, we will start grooming again. This report is from riding to Brandon, Rowley, Independence, Jesup and back to Brandon.
1-15-2010 - Make sure you stay on trails. We received a letter from the City of Quasqueton that people are riding on private property. This is a city that has been snowmobiler friendly in the past. We do not want to have this city look negative at snowmobilers.
1-14-2010 - Please only ride on the marked trail. We will more than likely lose part of the trail between Independence and Jesup due to sleds not riding where they are suppose to. This will take everyones effort to keep our trail system open.
1-13-2010 - We are still trying to keep the trails groomed. Rowley to Indee river trail, around Indee, to Jesup and Littleton were groomed last night. Will continue to groom as operators, temperatures and conditions allow. Remember to report any unsafe parts of the trail. Also, please don't litter the trails. If you see some garbage, pick it up. We don't need to upset the landowners by throwing our trash onto their land. Ride safe.
1/8/2010 - We have been out grooming the trails with most trails having been groomed once. New snow fell yesterday and the wind and blown it around a lot. Will be working on getting new snow groomed into place. The trails look to be in very good shape. Expecting a warm up next week that will melt some of the snow.
12/28/2009 Trails from Jesup to Brandon to Rowley blacktop and 150 ditch to Independence has been groomed. The rest of the trails are in process. Trails are rated in fair condition overall. There are some excellant spots and some bare spots. Use extreme caution at waterways and at water crossings. The rain last week has really messed some of those places up. We will correct as the water goes down and as time allows.
12/18/2009 - Grooming has started. Remember to stay on trails. Respect the speed limit to 15 MPH in town. We do not want to loose access to towns. Caution signs are posted for your safety.
12/17/09 - We have received around 12" of snow so far. Trails are in decent shape but there are some wind blown bare spots. Have been working on getting all trail markings complete. Since shotgun deer season is about over, will start grooming the trails this weekend. Hope to see you on the trails.
12/7/09 - Most trails are in along with the bridges. Please use extreme caution on the south side of the I-380 culvert. It is currently a tight squeeze to get between the bridge and the culvert. This is in the process of being corrected but it not done at this time.
12/01/09 - Signing of trails is moving along. Still have some bridges to put in. Hoping to get things wrapped up in the next week of two.
10/22/09 - Just starting to get ready for putting in trails. We are in the process of cantacting landowners and making changes where needed. Harvest is going slow around here with all the rain. Will have to wait and see if that puts the trails behind waiting on field work. If you would like to help, drop me a email and I wil line you up.
