I rode from Independence to the Littleton damn. The river is in good shape. There are a few opens spots that are relatively small. You can easily go around them. Once you get to Littleton, it looks like you can cross over on a short bridge of ice. Some people are shooting the water to get over, but I don't think you have to. I could have kept going, but turned around due to low fuel. Next Saturday I am planning on going much further up the river.
Has anyone jumped off the river and headed toward dunkerton? Anybody ride to Fairbank this year via water?

Taking the river to Anamosa!
Posted: 19 Feb 07 10:02 AM
Last Friday I took the day off of work and left my place, got on the river at Quasky, and headed south. The river was in great condition. There were a few open spots, but all of which you could go around them with no trouble at all. I went around the damn at Troy Mills and Central City and proceed to Anamosa. About 15 miles or so south of Central City, I got into some bad stretches so I turned around and came back, got off at Central City and rode Hwy 13 back to manchester, then over to Winthrop. I should have taken the river all the way back. Looking at the map, about a mile or so north of Anamosa, i turned off on a creek, hence the bad stretch. I could have kept going south. After this week, I don't think that will be possible. What is the furthest south anyone has ridden???
